Every week, Top Mobile Trends features a dating app. Online (and mobile app) Dating has increased in popularity over the years, and seems to be part of the dating norm now. This week, our Featured Best Dating App is Cupidtino, the dating app for Mac-heads.
The premise for the first mac-inspired dating app is quite simple – diehard Mac and Apple fans have a lot of common interests and share common personality traits, similar sense of style and aesthetics, taste and a love for technology. An apple device is required to sign up (iMac, iPad, iPhone etc) and the app integrates with iTunes to show off your personal taste. Considering matching tastes etc is one of the biggest hurdles of online dating, this app may be onto something. It makes sense – if you’re a mac purist then you would probably expect the same unwavering loyalty from your significant other, plus Apple vs. Android fights can get nasty and who needs that in a relationship?
The reviews in the app store aren’t that great either. They started out amazing, like this review from FishCalledPunk in March 2012 “Love this app: I absolutely love it. No fuss. Very minimal – just like Apple products.“, but the more recent reviews are well…less flattering, like this one from Theatrebogey from March 2013 “No: It isn’t worth your time”.
The lack of (positive) reviews could be due to the lack of updates (the last one was shortly following release in January 2012), given the steep competition for dating apps, and Mac Heads love of up-to-date technology it’s no wonder the app is falling short of expectations. They haven’t even released an update for iOS7, that’s not very Apple diehard fanesque of them is it?
