Apple has produced one of the most successful lines of mobile devices ever seen since the start of the explosion in popularity of these types of hardware: the iPhone. Ever since it was originally launched in 2007, iPhones of all models have been the go-to devices for computing on the go. In fact, studies show that over a half a billion iPhone have been sold to date!
These figures make it pretty obvious why the impending release of the iPhone 6 is such a big deal. So what does Apple have in store for us this time? Let’s take a look!
Screen Size: We have seen an increase in screen size more than once in past new iPhone releases, and this one will be no different. While the exact screen size is still up in the air, it is rumored that the screen will jump to a range between 4.7 and 5.5 inches.
Processor: The processor in the iPhone 6 is also slated to receive an improvement. Current models include an A7, 28-nanometer chip, while the 6 is reputed to have an A8, 20-nanometer chip. This will not only decrease the size of the chip, it will also make it more energy efficient.
Camera: While the display resolution and number of cameras will probably stay the same, a new technology, Optical Image Stabilization, will potentially make its debut in the iPhone 6. Optical Image Stabilization, which can be shortened to OIS, uses motion tracking to compensate for things like shaky hands.
No firm release date has been set for the iPhone 6 as of the time of the writing of this article. However, industry leaders project that this date will come some time in September. This is in keeping with Apple’s normal release schedule, which has only been broken once with the 4s.
While we do not yet have anything truly concrete regarding the iPhone 6, enough leaked information and speculation exists to paint a pretty clear picture of what we can expect. Do you have a specific feature you would love to see in the iPhone 6? Let us know in the Comments section below!
