No More Drunk Dialing, an App
I know more than a few of you out there have fantasized about an app that could stop you from sending those god awful late night texts. Well, alas, there is. The app is called Drunk Mode and it has just been approved by Apple Inc. An excerpt from the Cavalierdaily.com of the University of Virginia explains nicely how it works:
When Drunk Mode is switched on, those selected phone numbers are temporarily deleted from the contact’s information and cannot be retrieved until the timer expires.
The application also allows users to set reminders to go off every 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes to remind users not to engage in certain “drunk behaviors,” whether it’s drinking and driving or indulging in late night food from Little John’s, Anto
Yes, I am aware that this is a “first world problem” at it’s finest, nonetheless I think it is hilarious and should not be taken too seriously. There are other apps out there that promise to control your urges, but they all tend to be more trouble than they are worth. You can tell that the way in which this app functions was given thought. Another app for instance, blocks you from making any calls (except emergency,) you can see how this can be a problem when your ride ditched you, and you are trying desperately to call a cab to come pick you up. Drunk Mode’s ability to block or erase select contacts promises to fix that problem. In addition, the developers of the app have really taken steps to make it foolproof; the app blocks the selected contacts from Viber and WhatsApp, as well, so there will be no cheating.
I have not tried the app out. I like to think of myself as pretty in control… but when Im not (which is never) the particular mistake usually makes up for itself for the laughs.
p.s. The app is 99 cents.
Do let me know if you have tried this app!
