Each year, tech nerds are enchanted by the event that is Mobile World Congress. Held in Barcelona, Spain, MWC is one of the biggest highlights on the mobile tech calendar. 2015 promises to be no exception with new flagship phones from Samsung and HTC to be unveiled during the event.
The event begins on March 1, with multiple press conferences before the showroom actually opens up for the public from March 2 – 5. Given the nature and stature of the event, there have already been several leaks that ousts the big hitters – we’ve outlined the biggest ones below.
Samsung Galaxy S6
This is a big one – the Galaxy S5 did not do as well as Samsung hoped, leading to a big drop in profits and expected earnings. Samsung will be hoping the Galaxy S6 with reverse that and has been marketing it heavily, with several teasers.
However, the images below were leaked on an XDA-developers forum and claims to show the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
HTC One M9
The HTC One has been one of the best android phones for the past two years, with its all aluminum body. It won the plaudits of everyone with its design language – started off with the M7, the M8 continued that trend into 2014 and everyone is eagerly waiting for the “M9” to be unveiled at MWC.
HTC, like Samsung, seems to have had its next flagship leaked as well, with high resolution marketing images leaked last week. The M9 looks decidedly similar to its M8 predecessor – which could be a good or bad thing. The M8 had an excellent design language and was lauded by critics everywhere and it could be a good thing that the M9 follows in its footsteps. However, on the reverse side, people want change and having a new phone that looks the same as the old one might not be enough of a change for them.
