Career networking…on a dating app? It sounds odd, but Bumble has made another innovative addition to their app with Bizz. It’s another big step for the 4-year-old social app in separating themselves as primarily a dating app. In 2016, Bumble launched BFF, which was designed to find your next best friend rather than a date. So, how does Bumble Bizz work? Is it another LinkedIn? What are the features? We have the answers for you.
Bumble Bizz is similar to Bumble and Bumble BFF, where you swipe right or left for people within your area. Women are still required to message first, giving them the choice to decide who they are interested in connecting with. It’s a great concept that could help women feel more comfortable because they know that it is strictly for networking and building professional connections. Unlike LinkedIn, where you can also contact job recruiters and apply to jobs, you can only network on Bizz. Although it isn’t the app for finding a job, it may just help you land your next gig.
Your photos on Bumble Bizz are not the same photos on Bumble. You have the opportunity to select new photos and verify them, so you can now upload more professional looking photos. Along with photos, you are required to have a short headline where you can briefly tell people about yourself. The “about me” section is where you can expand further on that, explaining more about your company/role and who you are looking to connect with. Because this is a professional networking app, of course, you can add your experience! In your profile, you can add up to 4 jobs, a skills section, and a portfolio of your work. Learn more about people through their experience rather than just a headline and about me.
It’s going to be interesting to see how effective Bumble Bizz is and if it can be a great complement or even alternative to LinkedIn. Like mentioned previously, it’s another step of becoming an app that’s seen as more of dating, but how long will that process take? The app is rapidly growing with people creating Bizz profiles and already making connections, so we’ll be keeping an eye out to see if continues to grow or stagnates. Another concern could be how useful it will be for people not located in cities or highly-populated areas.
Hopefully, you have explained Bumble Bizz to your significant other before you get caught swiping!
